Information to help you.....

This information is designed to help if you are bereaved away from home, and your loved one will be repatriated to the United Kingdom. There are some things you need to know immediately, and information to help you later.

If there is travel insurance...
Call the emergency number and talk to your assistance company as soon as you can. Please follow their instructions. Please do not sign any documents unless you are advised to do so by your assistance company or their repatriation specialist. The assistance company will tell you when insurance cover is confirmed.

No travel insurance?
We can help you with an estimate. Call us on 0044 208 684 2324. Tell us where the tragedy happened and the destination of your loved one. Our experienced agents worldwide can help you.

Documents
Personal details for the death certificate may be more detailed than you expect: full name, date and place of birth, marital status, occupation, parents names and dates of birth are often required. Some countries issue an international death certificate, but many are in the local language. The final death certificate may not be available immediately. The passport of the deceased may be cancelled by your consular representative and returned to you later.

Personal effects
Sometimes personal effects are taken into custody by the local police or magistrate, and it can take some time to release them. If not, it's best for travelling companions to collect valuables and luggage and bring them home. If no one can do this, please ask us about transporting unaccompanied personal effects.

Viewing
We understand how important it is to see your loved one. We can ask our agent if this is possible before the repatriation. After the repatriation, please seek your funeral director's advice. Your co-ordinator will offer you more information about this. Please tell them if your faith has special requirements.

Transportation
Transportation coffins are simple and zinc lined. Unfortunately they can be damaged in transit or when opened. Please expect to choose a new coffin or casket for the funeral.

Funeral arrangments
Please do not book the funeral until your loved one is home in case flights are delayed or cancelled.

HM Coroner
After the flight home, your loved one will be delivered into the care of your chosen funeral director, who will notify the local Corroner . The Coroner decides if any further inquiries are necessary, and when the funeral can take place. In Scotland, the Procurator Fiscal is notified
